The personal journal of a 20-something college girl.

A new year, a new start

I would just like to begin by thanking everyone for their kind comments regarding my last blog.  It meant so, so much to me, knowing that I perhaps made a difference for someone.  I hope to eventually take my story and write a book to help raise awareness of dating violence.  Violence isn’t just physical– it’s also emotional, verbal, sexual, etc.  It is my hope to help/warn many more young girls out there.

Well, on a lighter note, like the new theme?  I personally LOVE it!  I didn’t create it, it was a premade (credit link is in the footer).  Since this site is now just a journal, and no longer a design site, I felt the need to have a simple theme with a strong emphasis on the blogs themselves.  So, I hope you like!

At the start of every new year, people make a list of things they want to improve and/or accomplish throughout that year.  Whether it be to lose weight or better manage their expenses, there’s usually something that a person wants to change (unless they’re one of those skeptics who would rather not make them at all, rather than making and breaking them).  But sadly, after about a week into the resolutions, people either forget about them or just simply give up.

I was one of the millions who made a list of resolutions.  However, I plan to be one of the 6% who actually stick to their resolutions.  It won’t be easy, I know, but it’s something I need to strive to complete.  My list includes:

- Improving my vision (going to the eye doctor on Wednesday to FINALLY get my glasses/contacts after like 2 years.  I used to/am supposed to wear them, but I haven’t been able to afford them.  My mom got so fed up that she’s agreed to pay for them.  However, this was not my intention for the last two years).

- Taking better care of my car (see $200 car wash/oil change).

- The ever-famous “losing weight.”  I need to though.  During the last 8 months, I gained over 20 lbs.  I don’t care about being supermodel skinny– I just want to lose the weight that I gained.  And I want to be healthy.

- Manage my finances better (I’m sure that $200 car wash/oil change didn’t help).  I need to work on paying off my credit cards, stop overdrafting, and start saving some money up.  I don’t make a whole lot of money, so I need to preserve it as best as I can.

- Get tested for ADD.  I have every one of those symptoms listed under Inattentive.  I feel that if I do have ADD and can get it under control, then my life and health will improve significantly.

- Keep up with my new photo blog, as well as this site.  And get my new entertainment news site up and running!

- Graduate college (currently scheduled for December 2010)

So that’s about it.  Compared to an absolutely horrific 2009 (from day one, it was the ultimate SuckFest), 2010 seems to be starting off on the right foot, so I’m hoping that this good… karma?… lasts throughout the rest of the year!

So what are some of your resolutions?

Also, be sure to submit some questions for me!  I want to do a vlog sometime this week, so if there’s anything you like to ask me/know about me, please ask!  Questions will be answered in the vlog!

  1. My resolutions are:

    1) Spend more time in my Faith
    2) Smile more
    3) Have a positive attitude
    4) Find proper exercise that will cooperate with my knee injury, cause weight gain on a short person is horrific.
    5) Get good grades at University.

    I have a list of 10, but that’s my bit. :]

  2. Pretty new site :) And I hope you get a book published, I’d totally buy it, just cause you wrote it XD

Anyway, I made new years resolutions too, except I’m part of that 94% that doesn’t follow through XD oops *blushes*. Well except one, I plan on getting better in graphic and web design, which isn’t too hard if you actually work at it :)

Aside the point, I hope you succeed your resolutions, I’m sure you will :)

  3. I haven’t really put together a list of resolutions yet, but one of them is definitely losing weight too haha. I didn’t really put on that much weight in 09, but I don’t really feel healthy so I guess the point really isn’t about getting thin, I just need to feel alive again. (That sounds really serious haha)

And oh CONGRATS in advance that you’re graduating end of this year! I’m not even done with high school and you’re already graduating college soon. Aw :)

I’m glad you had a simple New Years Eve last year, well sort of, this year. New Years Eve belongs 50% to 2009 and the other 50% to 2010 when it turns 12am. Yes, I get really fussy over little details haha. I wish I had that big family dinner too… I miss family dinners/lunch, whatever. I only get to have that during the New Year which is coming in about a month more. :D

Yes, I do have a fan site! Maybe you’re not aware but I have this huge obsession with websites. If school, friends, and family never existed in my life, I’d be making websites 24/7 haha.
